we're stoked for Jessi and Dave
ok, so this is something new we are going to start doing once in awhile. as we meet with and form a new relationship with our couples, we decided we would take their picture before they leave our house. it starts the relationship off on a great foot, after all, the rest of the time they spend with us will mostly be in front of our camera, so why not capture their story from the first time they come into our lives, if possible?? It also helps give us something to look at and remember the things about the couple that make us so excited to be their photographers.
meet: Jessi and Dave.
they came to us because: our creativity inspired them.
our favorite thing about them so far is: how genuine and pure their love for each other is.
some things we think are really cool about their wedding day: we will be barefoot, along with everyone else there, and there will be a potluck meal for the reception!! :)
Welcome, Jessi and Dave, we couldn't be more honored or glad that you have come into our lives!

tyler turned threve!!!
WARNING: shameless parents gushing about their kid ahead.....
A couple of weeks ago, we celebrated tyler's birthday. Tyler is the youngest of our two boys, and it's insane how much we love him. He was definitely a "surprise" to us, but even though he wasn't planned, his whole 3 years of existence have proved to us that even if we don't have something in our own plans, God knows better and is gracious to surprise us with his best. Tyler, teej, the leej, linx...is that for us. We're not sure how he does it, but this little boy has so much love and joy in his heart that all we have to do is look at him, tickle him, snuggle him, and we realize we are the two most blessed parents on the face of the earth.
Ok, so we started the night going to his favorite restaurant with my parents- Red Robin.
He got stoked at the happy birthday song - and when they brought the hot fudge sunday!!!

we think his stomach must be as big as his head, because this kid can EAT! ;)
after Red Robin, we headed to Nana and Papa's house in liberty for some more dessert!! lucky tyler got LOTS of sweet stuff on his b-day, just the way he loves it. Can you tell what movie he is obsessed with???
Dear Disney/Pixar,
we think it is absolutely brilliant, yet stupid that you feel the necessity to exploit the cars movie, making millions of tiny cars in billions of different colors just so our children will go nuts in the cars aisle at Target to get the latest lightning mcqueen, cactus lightning mcqueen, bling bling lightning mcqueen, dinoco blue lightning mcqueen, cruisin' lightning mcqueen, radiator springs lightning mcqueen, etc. etc. SHAME ON YOU!!
sincerely,
jeremy + ashley
he was a proud boy after he blew out his candles.
mmmmm....cake
this is what we call the "cake O" face. ;)
happy birthday tyler, you are such a wonderful blessing to us and everyone who knows you, and we love you SO MUCH.

Lauren & Kraig: e-session
Jeremy and I had an awesome time with Lauren and Kraig on their e-session. They are a totally laid back and playful couple, and the time with them was so enjoyable. We started off the session at the rose garden where Kraig proposed and then hit up some fun places in Westport.

Lauren and Kraig, you guys are not only ridonculously beautiful together, but also so much fun to be around. Thanks for hanging out with us for an afternoon! We can't wait for your wedding!

nicole and joel: e-session
do you have a place in this world that is so rich in love and stories and memories that just setting foot in that place, even in adulthood, makes you feel those memories of childhood all over again? Do you have a place like this?:
Nicole and Joel are a wonderful couple. She says that the first time she ever met us, she knew we would be their photographers. It doesn't surprise me because the genuine and open love she and Joel have for each other make them the exact type of people that we love photographing. It's an honor when our couples open up pieces of who they are to us because of that genuineness, and this e-session was a major reflection of that.
We drove far out of the city to the small and endearing town of Maple Hill, Kansas where Nicole spent many years growing up and visiting family. Her grandparents lived there, and when we originally scheduled the session, the hope was that they could get some pictures with her grandmother - someone who has been incredibly dear to Nicole and Joel both. But, in April her grandmother passed away. They decided they wanted to go ahead with the session and revisit the places there that meant so much to them.
I say all this not to make light of losing loved ones, but to help describe the emotion in these shots, and the fact that this was the most thoughtful engagement session I have ever shot because of these emotions, which I think are beautiful and powerful.
sitting on an old boulder that nicole has climbed on since she was a little girl.
in her aunt&uncle's wheat field
in front of what was her grandfather's workshop
the farm's old tree swing
the old railroad tracks that run along the farmland and into town.

by the old stone church that sits in the town cemetery.
and my favorite part of the day - when we hiked into the back country and they went swimming in the creek.

thank you both for sharing your memories, stories and yourselves - it was a wonderful day and we can't wait for your wedding!!

Rochelle and Bill: Wedding Day
Rochelle and Bill's wedding day was picture perfect. Not only was it blessed with beauty, good light, pleasant weather, classic details, tears, and incredible family and friends. But it was blessed with the amazing connection that Rochelle and Bill have. We were constantly finding ourselves being wrapped up in the story of these two and their amazing day.

stunning
The ever dapper Bill (far left) and his boys

I loved this moment between Rochelle and her mom as they rode to the church.
Rochelle got a little emotional before walking down the aisle with her dad.
the expressions on Rochelle and Bill's faces as she walked down the aisle were absolutely priceless.

I love moments like this - apparently the flame was getting a bit out of hand. :)

they left the church in a beautiful classic car.

we pulled off at a field on the way to the country club. it was a beautiful time.
what it looked like:

what it felt like:

the reception was so joy-filled and fun, we enjoyed ourselves so much, and it was obvious that everyone else did, too!

a quiet dance at the end of the evening.
Rochelle and Bill,
We were so blessed to be able to spend your wedding day with you and your family and friends. Thank you for making our job easy by being yourselves and experiencing the moments. We are so happy for you, and wish you all the best.

hannah and brett: e-session
Remember meeting hannah? When I went out and took some lovely pics of her, they were for her to send to her love, currently a soldier in Iraq. He loved them, and apparently he loves her, too because he got to come home for a brief couple of weeks and proposed to her!! They are engaged and we are thrilled and blessed and honored to be their photographers when they become man and wife next February. So, while Brett was home for this brief period, they decided to have their engagement pics done, since it is their only chance before the big day! I cannot even say what a dear and close couple they are. The hard and faithful work that it takes to keep up a relationship long distance like that, especially VERY long distances, is so admirable and you can see how much they value being together.
her smiles are even bigger and more beautiful when he's around.

he's a great guy. and humble, too. :)
we lucked out and found an abandoned farm/barn - so fun, snakes and all! ;)
she's lovely.
i absolutely adore this series!

Thanks, hannah and brett for an amazing time, for long drives and being great sports! You two are a beautiful, fun, and endearing couple. We are so happy you found each other, and you are both our hero's for the lives you lead and the things you go through to keep this relationship strong while apart.

Sharon and Jason: Wedding Day in Ohio!
We had the amazing honor of taking a trip to a small town in Ohio to photograph Sharon and Jason's morning wedding. When we drove into the town, we had no idea what we were in for. Upon meeting them at the rehearsal dinner and getting to know their friends and family and the two of them better, it quickly became obvious that we were blessed to be a part of the weekend. Anytime love shows up, anytime God shows up, we have the invitation to join in and experience it, and that is what we did on their day. This was a wedding that not only had so much emotion and depth and love, but that also sent us away stoked about marriage and living abundant life together.
as soon as we arrived that morning, the sign outside the church greeted us - it seemed so fitting for the day ahead!
the dress - no ordinary dress. Sharon actually designed this dress, picked out all of the material and had it hand made especially for her while living in Thailand!!
and it was exquisite, down to the last detail.
sharon and jason decided to see each other in a quiet room in the church before the wedding ceremony, and the looks of pure joy on their faces were absolutely priceless.
the friends - words fail to describe the love between them and their friends.
favorite image of the girls - love that warm, early morning sunlight!
favorite image of the guys - these guys cared so much for jason, and the strong spiritual bond they had was so cool to see.
they were beaming the entire ceremony, and the vows they recited and songs they sang were so moving.
vows
singing - they have beautiful voices
their families came up and prayed for them, it was an emotion-filled time.
married!
in case you haven't noticed yet, sharon is full of life and joy. It was so wonderful watching her and Jason and the way they lovingly and playfully interacted - so endearing.

and the dance.

not sure who this little guy was, but his cuteness was definitely blog worthy! :)
love this image of the grandparents getting down!
